to ensure your instrument receives the most professional service

From setting up an instrument, doing maintenance
and repairs, to estimating a value of an instrument for you,
our repair technicians are here for you. Our expert technicians
have over 43 years of combined experience!
Instrument Set Up
We make extraordinary efforts to be sure that the instrument you
receive is properly set up, of high quality, and will meet the
requirements to provide an enjoyable musical experience.
We understand that you are making an investment. Likewise, we
want to be sure we are making a reciprocal investment in you, our
valued customer.

Complete Re-pad – Woodwind
Includes total disassembly, cleaning and buffing of all non-lacquered
keys. Wood instruments will be oiled. All pads, corks, and felts
will be replaced, and springs replaced as needed. Minor accessible
dent removal on metal instruments. Complete adjustment and timing
of key mechanisms, and key straightening. Flute and piccolo head
corks will be replaced. Reassembly, oiling of keys and mechanisms.
Playing
Condition – Woodwind
Includes complete mechanical adjustment, key oiling, and replacement
of up to four pads and accompanying corks as needed. Complete
adjustment and timing of key mechanisms. Wood instruments will
be oiled as
needed.
Chemical Flush – Brass
Includes complete disassembly and chem-dip clean to remove
all internal deposits. Accessible dent removal and burnishing.
Minor
soldering work of up to three joints/braces. Removal of all
stuck slides and caps. Lubrication and alignment of all slides
and
pistons with cork and felt replacement as needed. Minor polishing
and buffing.
Mouthpiece sanitization.
Playing
Condition with Chem Clean – Brass
Includes complete mechanical adjustment, alignment and lubrication
of slides. Chemical dip clean to remove internal deposits.
Lubrication and alignment of pistons. Removal of all stuck
slides and caps.
Minor accessible dent removal. |

Complete Service
Competent luthiers at Summerhays Music offer services
from simple repair to complex restoration. As each instrument is
different
and each playing situation unequal to others, we happily offer
free consultation to determine each client’s needs. A menu
of services offered includes:
- String replacement, one at
a time or all at once.
- Bridge work, new fitting or reshaping
of existing bridge
- Crack repair and body work including restoration
of damaged corners, smoothing of damaged edges, simple or complex
(top-off)
crack repair, varnish repair and color matching, seam separations
and wing cracks.
- Pegs and peg box work, refitting pegs and precision
reaming of peg holes, peg box crack repair and re-bushing of
peg holes.
- Sound post work, new fitting, re-shaping and/or
re-setting of existing sound post.
- Fingerboard, nut and saddle
work to shape, smooth, dress and glue each in place.
Playing Condition
Includes complete disassembly of the instrument, clean and polish
and then reassembly with existing parts to the best industry standards
possible. Strings are replaced as needed. Pegs are adjusted to
move smoothly in the peg box. A final bridge and sound post adjustment
assures that the instrument is performing to optimum capacity.
