Educational Sales Representative

Location: 5420 S. Green Street, Murray, UT 84123
Full-Time

Educational Sales Representatives travel within an assigned sales territory to forge strong, positive relationships with music educators and school administrators to generate outside sales and rentals. They also service the needs of music educators by delivering products, picking up/dropping off instrument repairs, helping with recruitment efforts, and other activities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out strategy and brand goal directives of SMC
  • Develop professional relationships with band and orchestra teachers from public and private schools
  • Provide the best customer service to educators to meet and increase rental/sales goals
  • Visit schools, school teachers, and administrators on a regular schedule
  • Deliver purchased goods to schools
  • Pick up, track, and drop off instrument repairs
  • Set up and attend rental events with educators
  • Schedule in-school instrument demonstrations and presentations
  • Send daily reports on business activities
  • Attend conferences, trade shows, and other community events
  • Develop and maintain productive, effective, and professional relationships with retail store sales staff and management
  • Stay current on industry trends and products 
  • Maintain company vehicle
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Passionate about music and have a degree in music performance, music education, or commercial music (preferred, but not required)
  • Proficient at playing a woodwind, brass, percussion, or orchestral string instrument
  • Able to travel throughout Salt Lake County, Northern Utah, and surrounding areas
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Able to work primarily during school hours with some variability
  • Able to work some late-night events
  • Able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form
  • Able to lift and carry boxes and instruments of all weights and sizes
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Comfortable presenting products/information to large groups
  • Friendly, personable, and able to develop and foster positive relationships in the music community

Musical Accessories Buyer

Location: 5420 S. Green Street, Murray, UT 84123
Full-Time

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Purchasing Agent to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in music, excellent organizational skills, and proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office products. This role involves managing the inventory of music products and accessories, sending quotes to schools and arts organizations, and ensuring our store is well-stocked with the latest and most in-demand music products.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out strategy and brand goal directives of SMC.
  • Purchase relevant music products and accessories for stock at the store.
  • Maintain the inventory of accessories, ensuring accuracy and availability.
  • Work with outside sales to create and send competitive bids to schools, arts programs, and other organizations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors.
  • Stay current on music industry trends and products.
  • Analyze sales trends and customer preferences to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Monitor and report on purchasing activities.
  • Collaborate with store staff to understand inventory needs and product demand.
  • Participate in sales activities as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Passionate about music and have a strong proficiency with a wind, percussion, or string instrument.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft office products.
  • Well-organized and have an exceptional attention to detail.

Band Instrument Repair Technician

Location: 547 N. Main Street, Layton, UT 84041
Full-Time

The Band Instrument Repair Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair services of brass and woodwind instruments and is expected to perform the following:

  • Perform regular maintenance and repair on company-owned rental instruments.
  • Evaluate and repair customer & school-owned instruments.
  • Maintain company equipment and work space in good order.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
 
Hours: Part or Full-time: Up to 40 hours a week
 
We are looking for a motivated technician with a positive attitude and excellent time-management skills. Ideal candidates will be motivated and self-starting, comfortable working with customers, and a good team player.
 
Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED required or technical training.
  • Pass bench test that shows seasoned competency in repair.
