Summerhays Music Center is seeking a proactive and organized Band Instrument Repair Shop Coordinator to manage the daily operations of the instrument repair shop. The ideal candidate will have a background in instrumental music and plays a brass or woodwind instrument. This role involves overseeing customer interactions, coordinating repair schedules, and maintaining repair shop inventory to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities:

Greet customers and provide excellent customer service.

Provide accurate repair estimates to customers and answer any repair-related questions.

Schedule employees and assign tasks to technicians while balancing the repair needs of customers, schools, and in-store inventory.

Monitor the progress of repairs and communicate status updates to customers and Summerhays staff.
-
Maintain an organized inventory of repair supplies and parts.
-
Order instrument parts from manufacturers and suppliers, ensuring stock levels meet repair shop demands.

Manage billing and invoicing for completed repairs
-
Maintain detailed records of repairs, inventory, and customer interactions.
-
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Prior experience with musical instrument repair is preferred, but not required.

Knowledge of band instruments and common repair issues.

Strong organizational and multitasking skills to manage a busy repair shop environment.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.
-
Ability to work closely with repair technicians and other Summerhays staff to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks.

Competency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Band Instrument Repair Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in evaluating, repairing, and maintaining brass and/or woodwind instruments. This role involves repairing instruments for in-store customers and local schools, along with setting up and maintaining company-owned instruments to ensure they are in optimal playing condition.
Key Responsibilities:

Evaluate and repair band instruments brought in by customers and local schools.

Perform regular maintenance and repair on company-owned rental instruments to keep them in excellent condition.

Inspect new instruments for store stock, ensuring they meet quality standards before being sold.

Maintain company equipment and work space in good order, ensuring a clean, organized, and safe working environment.

Customer Interaction: Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with customers about their repair needs and offering professional advice.

Keep detailed records of repairs, estimates, maintenance tasks, and inventory management.

Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Must have graduated from an accredited repair technician school, or have equivalent experience (we are not accepting apprenticeships).

Must be able to pass a bench test to show seasoned competency in repair.

Strong knowledge of brass/woodwind instruments and repair techniques.

Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Strong communication and customer service skills.

Passion for music and commitment to providing high-quality repair services.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in instrumental music and a passion for helping musicians find the perfect instrument or accessory. The candidate must be able to provide superior customer service and create a 5-star customer experience.
Key Responsibilities:
